Tom Thumb, Albertsons and Randalls Award $35,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana to Support Healthy Lifestyles

Lafayette, LA — Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana (BGCA) is proud to announce a $35,000 contribution from Tom Thumb, Albertsons and Randalls to support youth programming and community engagement at the Jackie Unit in Lafayette. This generous support will help expand opportunities for Club members to develop healthy habits, learn practical life skills and build meaningful connections with their community.

Through this partnership, BGCA and Albertsons are working together to create engaging experiences that encourage young people to learn, lead, create and explore new opportunities. The support will strengthen programming focused on healthy lifestyles while creating opportunities for Albertsons team members to engage directly with Club members and their families.

Planned initiatives include a “Cooking with Youth” program that will introduce members to basic cooking skills, nutrition, meal preparation, budgeting and kitchen safety. Youth will have opportunities to prepare recipes, explore healthy food choices and develop greater independence through hands-on learning.

The partnership also includes plans for an Albertsons Community Garden, where members can learn about growing fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs while exploring sustainability and nutrition. Produce from the garden can be incorporated into cooking activities, connecting the growing process with healthy meal preparation.

Additional opportunities will focus on celebrating Club members and promoting overall wellness through monthly birthday celebrations, teen healthy lifestyle programming and a Thanksgiving Family Dinner. These experiences will bring together Club members, families and community partners while reinforcing the importance of physical, mental and emotional well-being.

“We are incredibly grateful to Tom Thumb, Albertsons and Randalls for their generous $35,000 contribution and their commitment to supporting the youth of Acadiana,” said Eboney Breaux, Jackie Club Director. “This partnership goes beyond financial support. It creates opportunities for our members to learn valuable life skills, explore healthy choices and build relationships with caring adults in their community. Partnerships like these help us create meaningful experiences that prepare young people for success in school, their careers and life.”

The contribution from Tom Thumb, Albertsons and Randalls reflects the impact that community partnerships can have in creating brighter futures for local youth. By combining financial support with opportunities for employee engagement and volunteerism, this partnership will help strengthen the experiences available to members at the Jackie Unit and support their journey toward reaching their full potential.
