Lafayette, LA – Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana is proud to announce the Jackie Boys & Girls Club has been recognized with a National Keystone Award for Teen Outreach by Boys & Girls Clubs of America, honoring the Club’s exceptional commitment to developing teen leaders who create meaningful change in their communities.
Jackie Boys & Girls Club’s Keystone members hosted a Teen Town Hall in Saint Martinville, bringing together more than 100 local teens for an afternoon of learning, conversation, and engagement. Planned and led by teen members, the event provided a welcoming environment where young people could openly discuss issues affecting their lives, learn from one another, and feel that their voices mattered.
Throughout the event, Keystone members facilitated informative sessions, including a panel featuring local city officials, asking authentic questions about the challenges facing today’s youth. They also organized interactive board games and team-building activities that fostered connection, collaboration, and fun—showing that building a stronger community can be both impactful and enjoyable. Their leadership ensured that not only their own voices, but also the voices of their peers, were heard by community leaders.

Keystone Clubs are Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier leadership development program for teens ages 14 to 18. The program provides members with opportunities to develop leadership skills through service, academic success, career exploration, and civic engagement. Working alongside dedicated Club professionals, Keystone members identify needs within their communities, design service projects, advocate for issues affecting youth, and gain the confidence to become compassionate, responsible leaders.
The National Keystone Award recognizes Clubs that exemplify excellence in teen engagement and leadership while creating innovative outreach efforts that positively impact their communities. Jackie Boys & Girls Club’s recognition demonstrates how empowering young people with leadership opportunities can create lasting change far beyond the walls of the Club.
“This opportunity allowed our teens to step outside their comfort zones and realize the impact they can have on others,” said Eboney Breaux, Club Director of the Jackie Club. “We are incredibly proud of the leadership, compassion, and confidence they displayed throughout this project. Seeing them create a space where other teens felt heard and supported is exactly what the Keystone program is designed to accomplish.”
